Powering Women Project by Sandon WA Inc.
The Powering Women Project, proudly presented by Sandon WA Inc., was a transformative initiative aimed at empowering women across Western Australia. Supported by the Department of Communities WA, Perth Networking Club, Consolidated Group, and Rocket Launcher, the project brought together over 100 women to collaborate, network, and support each other in their personal and professional journeys. Through a series of impactful events and inspiring speakers, the Powering Women Project celebrated the achievements of women across various industries and provided a platform for growth and connection.
Pink Truck Lunch
The Powering Women Project was officially launched on 27th March 2024 with a special event that also celebrated the launch of the Pink Trucks by Consolidated Group. The event supported Breast Cancer Care WA and featured Hon. Sue Ellery BA MLC as a special guest, adding to the significance of the day. The launch was a resounding success, setting the stage for a series of events that would champion and uplift women in a variety of sectors across the state.
Female Tech Entrepreneurs Event
The second event in the Powering Women Project series, Female Tech Entrepreneurs, was an inspiring gathering aimed at celebrating women in technology. The event, held in Perth, was a unique opportunity for women in technology, startups, and leadership positions to connect, inspire, and collaborate. The keynote speaker, Kate Kirwin, the founder of She Codes, shared her journey and vision for women in STEM. Kate, who was named the 2024 WA Young Australian of the Year and a 40under40 winner in 2021, captivated the audience with her passion for innovation and her dedication to fostering a more inclusive tech community. The event was made possible with the generous support of Horizon Digital, who sponsored the venue space in the heart of Perth CBD, making it an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
Uplifting Women in Construction
Another key event in the Powering Women Project focused on Uplifting Women in Construction. This informative and educational event created an opportunity for women in the construction industry to come together, share experiences, and build meaningful connections. Moderated by Tiffany Allen, CEO of the Construction Training Fund (CTF), the event featured a diverse panel of experts, including Ashley McGrath from CEO’s for Gender Equity, Laura Pickup from ElevateOne Recruitment, David Tasker from Zinfra, and Angelina Allen from WorkWin. These influential speakers provided valuable insights on how to progress and support women in the construction sector, inspiring attendees to break barriers and pursue leadership roles in the industry.
Women in Transport: Powering Change
The Powering Women Project also turned its focus to the transport sector with the Women in Transport event, which highlighted the critical role women play in road safety and leadership in traditionally male-dominated industries. Moderated by Niomi Hurley from Get Up and Grow Consulting, the event featured a dynamic panel discussion about women in transport, safety initiatives, and creating opportunities for women to advance in fields like truck driving and trades. Attendees had the chance to collaborate, network, and champion women in transport, driving change for a more inclusive and diverse future. This event also emphasized the importance of road safety and featured thought-provoking discussions on how to create “A Golden Future” for women in the industry.
The City of Rockingham – Defence Industry Forum
The 4th Annual Defence Industry Forum, held on 9th October 2024 at the Gary Holland Community Centre in Rockingham, focused on local business opportunities within the defence sector. Organised by the Rockingham Kwinana Chamber of Commerce and supported by the City of Rockingham, the event covered topics like sovereign maritime capability and AUKUS updates. Featuring speakers from Defence, industry leaders, and SMEs, the forum provided valuable insights into the growing defence industry, helping local businesses connect and explore new opportunities.
