We delivered bulk fill sand haulage for the Tonkin Highway Extension project in metropolitan Perth. Material was sourced from the Muchea quarry and carted to multiple active preload tip points along the Tonkin corridor, including the Thomas Road to Abernethy Road and Orton Road to Bishop Road preload areas.
A fleet of up to 20 triple road train and B-double configurations — operated simultaneously. All trucks were fitted with IVMS real-time tracking. An on-site transport supervisor managed daily operations, with docket reconciliation submitted to TEA at the end of each shift. Trucks ran on a continuous rotation from the Muchea load point to designated tip locations, with multiple tip points active concurrently to maintain programme.
Managing wet clay material at tip locations presented an ongoing operational challenge — material adhering to bin walls caused underweight loads. Our transport supervisor proactively worked directly with site management to coordinate excavator assistance at tip points, recovering adhered material and returning it to the tip location.
