Jakarli Group Services is delivering two concurrent demolition packages in Newman, comprising 14 residential properties and the Newman Training Centre. The integrated scope includes hazardous materials management, service isolation, structural demolition, removal of slabs and below-ground infrastructure, waste management and full site reinstatement.
Jakarli Group Services was engaged as Principal Contractor to deliver two concurrent demolition packages within Newman, Western Australia — the demolition of 14 residential properties throughout the township and the Newman Training Centre on Whaleback Drive. The packages are being delivered under an integrated mobilisation and management structure, allowing plant, supervision, systems and specialist subcontractors to be coordinated across both scopes.
The residential programme follows a repeatable lot-by-lot delivery model incorporating service isolation and zero-energy verification, hazardous materials identification and removal, controlled structural demolition, removal of slabs, footings and below-ground services, followed by backfilling, final trimming and site reinstatement.
The Newman Training Centre adds another level of complexity, comprising multiple workshops, classrooms, offices, amenities and associated infrastructure. A staged and zoned delivery approach allows the team to safely coordinate hazardous materials removal, specialist structural demolition, civil works, waste segregation and progressive reinstatement across the larger facility.
The project also became an important milestone in Jakarli’s continued growth, serving as the live project used for our Federal Safety Commissioner (FSC) accreditation audit. The accreditation process provided an opportunity to demonstrate our safety management systems in an active, complex construction environment and further strengthen the systems, controls and governance supporting our project delivery.
Achieving FSC accreditation represents a strategic step forward for Jakarli, supporting our ability to tender for and deliver larger-scale federally funded construction projects while maintaining a strong focus on the safety of our people, subcontractors and the communities in which we operate.
On completion, each work area is reinstated to a safe, stable and free-draining condition ready for formal handover, including removal of residual infrastructure, backfilling, compaction and final trimming.
